When playing or recording MIDI or WAVE data with the SCP-55 using applications like DoReMiX, EasyJuke2 or Sound Recorder, do not remove the SCP-55 from the PC card slot. *You can remove the SCP-55 from the PC card slot when not playing anything back. Note: If "PC Card Properties" is displayed, PC card is ready to use. Please click the "CANCEL" button. Following procedure is not necessary. Go to 1-2. (2)You will be asked,"Are you using a PC card[network card,CD-ROM connected to a SCSI card,etc.] to install Windows?". Select "No" and click the "Next" button. (3)You will be asked,"Do you want to review your system files and select real-mode PC card drivers so Windows can disable them?". Select "No" and click the "Next" button. (4)Click the "Finish" button. (5)You will be asked in the "System Settings Change"dialog box,"Would you like to shut down your computer now?". Click the "Yes" button to shut down your computer. (6)Turn on your computer and start up Windows95. *To see the detail, search for "Enabling support for" with Windows95 Help, and obey its instructions. 1-2 Installing SCP-55 driver (1)Insert the SCP-55 into the PC card slot. After a while, you will see a message which reads,"New Hardware Found" and then a dialog box for selecting a driver. Make sure that "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" is selected, and click the "OK" button. (2)You will see "Install From Disk" dialog box. Click "Browse..." and select "A:\scp55\win95". Click the "OK" button and obey its instructions to install the driver. (3)Change the MIDI and WAVE device to "SCP-55" using the "Multimedia" icon in the "Control Panel" window.(ref.1-3) 1-3 Setting the "Multimedia Properties" *This function corresponds to "setting Mapper" in Windows3.1 (1)Double-click the "Multimedia" icon in the "Control Panel" window. (2)Click "MIDI" tab. (3)Select "SCP-55 for Windows95" from the list of "Single instrument" (4)Click the "OK" button (5)Setup "Audio" in the same way. MIDI SCP-55 for Windows95 Playback SCP-55 Playback (336) Recording SCP-55 Record (336) 1-4 How to control the volume (1) Activate "Volume Control" that is included in Windows95. ("Start"->"Programs"->"Accessories"->"Multimedia") (2)Open the "Properties" in the "Options" menu. (3)Change Mixer device to "SCP-55 Mixer". (4)Select "Playback" in the "Adjust volume for" box. Check all the check boxes in the "Show the following volume controls" box,then click the "OK" button. The mixer screen appears and you can control the volume. (5)Setup "Recording" in the same way. 2.Others 2-1 Installing "Volume Control" (1)Insert Windows95 CD-ROM (ref.2-2) (2)Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon in the "Control Panel" window. (3)Select "Windows Setup" Tab, then select "Multimedia" from the list of "Components:". Click the "Details..." button, and "Multimedia" dialog box will open. (4)Search for "Volume Control" from the list of "Components:" ,check the check-box, and click the "OK" button. Click the "OK" button after coming back to the "Add/Remove Programs" dialog box. (Now, the application is installed.) 2-2 When you use the SCSI Card again After setting the Windows95 PC card service, in some cases your SCSI card connected to the CD-ROM will be unavailable. This is because the SCSI card does not support Windows95. In this case, click "Help" after clicking "Start" button, the type "PC card" in the box of "Index" tab. Select "PC card/disabling support for" and obey its instructions. 3.Trouble Shooting 3-1 In Case You Hear Noise When Playing Back a Wave File There is a case you hear noise when the Power management is set on "Advanced". In this case, take the following steps to change the setting. (1)Click the "Start" button. Point to "Settings" and click "Control Panel". (2)Double-click the "Power" icon in the "Control Panel" window. Then, you see the "Power Properties" dialog box. (3)Select "Standard" in "Power management". Then, click the "OK" button. 3-2 In Case the Wave File Playback Stops When playing or recording MIDI or WAVE data with the SCP-55 using applications like "DoReMiX", "EasyJuke2" or "Sound Recorder", do not start up "MS-DOS prompt".
